We are currently looking for an experienced Process Technician.

Title: Process Technician

Location: Fremont, CA (Onsite Role)

Contract position

Job Description:

  • Operate semiconductor and metrology equipment.
  • Provide technical support and assistance.
  • Set up process equipment for operation.
  • Conduct technical tests and experiments for process engineering within research and development.
  • Monitor and audit line operators, offering guidance as needed.
  • Execute process test runs and compile records, charts, and graphs to present results to engineering teams, aimed at identifying yield issues or testing new products.
  • Offer technical assistance to personnel in process development and engineering.
  • Conduct laboratory activities for customer demonstrations and process experiments, including sample preparation, chemical treatments, and running wafer flows on company tools.
  • Use metrology tools to perform measurements, including thin film measurements, CD measurements, and SEM imaging.
  • Develop process recipes from scratch and fine-tune existing recipes for robustness, suggesting improvements as necessary.
  • Implement statistical process control (SPC) and etch rate measurements, including evaluation and reporting to ensure that chamber performance remains in control and meets specifications; identify trends or out-of-spec conditions and propose troubleshooting actions.
  • Follow customer instructions to determine target pattern features for first sample cleaving using microscopes, top-down SEMs, and micro-cleavers, and create or update PowerPoint instructions for others to follow.
  • Train new process engineers, technicians, or field service engineers on lab equipment operation, sample preparation, and adherence to lab protocols.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for alarm resolution, lab operations, and protocol inquiries.
  • Collaborate with demo engineers and the metrology team to develop metrology recipes.
  • Recommend enhancements to experiment execution for improved quality and efficiency.
  • Operate computer interfaces and navigate diagnostic software as necessary.
  • Work with the lab operations team to enhance lab safety, customer intellectual property, and lab protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience in a clean room environment, with the ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as bunny suits, safety glasses, masks, shields, gloves, and safety footwear.
  • 2-3 years of experience with silicon wafer handling is preferred.
  • Ability to understand process requirements and execute experiments with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with company tool operations, with skills to clear basic alarms and troubleshoot to minimize tool downtime.
  • Degree in electronics, material science, chemistry, physics (Associates or BS) or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, particularly in troubleshooting or operational roles.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness to changing priorities, including willingness to rework and work overtime.
  • Able to install components from a height of 1 to 6 feet and reach into machinery for task completion.
  • Proficient in using computer interfaces and diagnostic software.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication skills to convey detailed pass-downs for seamless lab operations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Education: BS in Material Science preferred or equivalent relevant experience.


Pay for this position is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. As a contractor, you may also be eligible for health benefits such as health, dental, and vision as well as access to a 401K plan.
