Overview:
We are assisting our client in seeking a highly skilled Senior VMware Engineer to join our team. This role is critical to maintaining and supporting our data center operations during a company divestiture, with the potential to assist in its decommissioning by 2026. The ideal candidate is an experienced virtualization professional who has built, configured, and supported VMware environments. This position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a security clearance.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and support the existing VMware vSphere infrastructure to ensure uptime and reliability during the divestiture process.
- Design, build, and configure new VMware environments as needed.
- Perform regular system updates, patching, and configuration changes to ensure the environment remains secure and efficient.
- Provide ongoing “lights-on” support for VMware infrastructure, addressing issues promptly and effectively.
- Collaborate with the team to manage the eventual shutdown of the data center by 2026.
- Support Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and ensure integration with VMware systems.
- Utilize PowerShell scripting to automate and streamline operational tasks.
- Provide Active Directory support, including integration with VMware environments.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule with team members to address after-hours issues as needed.
Required Skills:
- U.S. citizenship and ability to pass a security clearance (no loans in forbearance or bankruptcy filings in the past 7 years).
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in Virtualization Engineering, focusing on VMware technologies.
- Proven expertise in building, configuring, and supporting VMware vSphere environments.
- Experience making configuration changes and providing “lights-on” support for VMware/vSphere.
- Familiarity with supporting Azure IaaS environments.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting.
- Solid understanding of Active Directory support and integration.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Azure AD/Azure Entra ID.
- Familiarity with Cisco UCS environments.
