The Doe Run Company is currently seeking a Tech Services Engineer I to assist the mines with pillar extraction planning and monitoring the process along with ensuring that the escape, evacuation, ventilation plans, and maps are accurate and up to date. Pay/title will be based on education & experience. This position is located at our Buick Mine & Mill in Boss, MO.

Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the evaluation and planning of pillar extraction by gathering geologic data, completing economic assessment and work with outside consultants on pillar stability analysis to ensure there are sufficient pillar plans to meet budget requirements
- Conduct ventilation surveys, analyze ventilation data, distribute ventilation maps in a timely manner, identify potential ventilation improvements and assist with ventilation projects.
- Update and distribute escape and evacuation maps when needed and train mine employees in escape and evacuation procedures.
- Ensure refuge chamber location meets MSHA compliance.
- Assist mine planning with short, mid, and long-term plans as needed.
- Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health and safety) policies, procedures, and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mine Engineering or related field.
- Prior experience as a technical engineer preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word), Drafting (AutoCAD), PeopleSoft, 3D Modeling (Vulcan, Surfer, ArcGIS, Cloud Compare).
- Proficient understanding of mine ventilation principles.
- Basic knowledge of MSHA regulations.
Environmental Conditions, Physical & Lifting Requirements:
- Regularly required to use a computer/tablet. Occasionally requires the use of phone/radio and personnel carrier.
- Regularly required to work in standard office environment. Frequently required to work underground and occasionally exposed to wet, humid, hot, or freezing conditions. Occasionally required to wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to fall protection, a respirator, hearing protection and eyewear. May be exposed to loud noise levels.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, talk, hear, and walk for extended periods of time. Occasionally required to use repetitive motion, and reach with hands/arms, feeling attributes of objects, climbing or balancing. Requires clarity of vision and three-dimensional vision.
- Regularly required to lift up to 5 pounds, occasionally required to lift up to 15 pounds, and rarely required to lift up to 50 pounds.
