Join us in making a difference without sacrificing your well-being POSITION SUMMARY The Speech Therapist (ST) is a professional member of the health care team who provides Speech Therapy services to patients in compliance with all applicable practice acts. The Speech Therapist performs duties within standards of clinical practice as defined by the Department of Professional Regulation, the American Speech-Language- Hearing-Association and the policies and procedures of the agency, and functions under the direction of a physician and nursing supervisor in the deliverance of skilled Speech Therapy care to the client. RESPONSIBILITIES Evaluates the client's level of functioning and hearing and recommend mechanisms to enhance the client's hearing ability. Provides initial and ongoing comprehensive assessments of the client’s needs, including Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS) assessments. Establishes a Speech Therapy treatment plan in consultation with the physician and revises it with the physician's approval as necessary. Assists in the development and implementation of the interdisciplinary client care plan as it pertains to Speech Therapy. Assures that the physician's orders are appropriate and discusses necessary changes. Communicates with other team members and, when appropriate, instruct them in speech pathology techniques that they may use while working with the client. Teaches, supervises and counsels the family and client in the total Speech Therapy program and other related problems of the client at home. Records on a timely basis all evaluation data, treatments, and client's response to therapeutic intervention. Supervises the Home Health Aide every 14 days when Speech Therapy is the only professional discipline involved in the client's care. Records and reports to the physician the client's reaction to treatment and /or any changes in the client's condition. Participates in the development of periodic revision of the physician's plan of treatment keeping him/her informed of the patient's status and obtaining additional orders if necessary. Communicates with the physician at least every 30 days or whenever changes occur regarding the client’s status and obtain additional orders, if necessary. Evaluates the effectiveness of speech pathology intervention and update the client care plan as needed. QUALIFICATIONS Graduate of an accredited Speech Therapy program or equivalent education. Licensed in the State of Florida as a Speech Therapist. Two years of clinical experience as a Speech Therapist. Current BLS Certification. Licensed driver with an automobile that is in good working order and insured in accordance with the organization's requirements. Must display good emotional health and be able to physically tolerate much standing, stooping, and bending; must meet all agency regulations. Must be self-directed and able to work with little supervision and have good observational, judgment, and communication skills.
