Job description:
- Primary customer interface for specific vehicles related to the customization and launching of Occupant Sensing System. Duties will include though not be limited to the following.
- Vehicle systems troubleshooting and in depth technical analysis of the sub-systems to obtain root cause for execution of the GM programs. Obtaining Functional Safety & Cybersecurity requirements, while complying with Quality Process.
- Customer site support for seat level validation seating with weight distribution method to determine performance.
- Execute electrical bench testing with prototype and production parts for verification of customer requirements with sign-off of analysis.
- Dynamic vehicle tests for performance of the occupant classification with data logging tools. Analyze the vehicle logs for issues within the vehicle subsystem and root cause any issue that may arise from the test procedure execution.
Responsibilities: - Support local seat plants: Travel to local seat plants for any issues with product or reprogramming updates. Process checks to insure the assembly of the parts follow guidelines.
- Pull specifications and drawings from the customer release systems for verification and compliance of the Client part.
- Integrate Client system into vehicles and execute functional test procedures for dynamic and static verification of the communication bus.
Tools/Technology/Techniques: - PODS data acquisition tool for dynamic testing. Connected into the vehicle bus for log collects and data analysis.
- Vector Canoe for sending and receiving diagnostic commands to the module for checkout. Problem solving techniques include fault tree analysis, Shanin red X, and 3 legged 5 why.
- Use customer systems to release updated part numbers and associated documentation (drawings, ICD, assembly instructions, service, etc.)
- Coordinate customer and project team meetings for product development using MS project, MS excel and MS word to document meeting minutes, attendance and action items.
Requirements: - 3 - 5 years of relevant experience. College degree with a major in engineering.
- This position requires knowledge in systems engineering and understand customer needs to ensure deliverables meet customer expectations.
- The Passenger Occupant Detection System (PODS) project involves in classifying the occupant sitting on the car seat.
- By using pressure sensor signal processing, it provides occupant classification into empty, child & adult and communicates to vehicle airbag controller via CAN interface.
- The layered complexity of the project requires the engineer with the knowledge of tools and technologies such as Polarion/Doors, GES, JIRA, Vector CANoe, PDAQ/Saint tools, SWIT and different protocols like ISO26262, Cyber-Security, UDS-ISO14229 and CAN.
