Tooele, Utah (Hybrid Work Schedule)
Hybrid onsite/remote if working at client project sites
Salary: $85 - $125KYR DOE
Job Description:
Established Utah Civil Engineering firm with over 100 employees is building out an office in Tooele City, Utah. They already have the work-load, and anticipate the work will continue to grow – but don't' have anyone who resides a short-distance to that location. They need an experienced Civil Engineer with experience in Land Development to start the office and then grow it. The ideal candidate will be someone who resides in Tooele County and is already tired of the 1+ hours long commute along SR36, or SR 138 to I-80 and then onto Salt Lake County. Cut your commute down to 20 minutes to/from the office and get 5 hours of your life back instead of spending it on the road.
This role will be for either someone who is mid-career and wants the opportunity to manage, lead, and grow a local engineering office ( you would be mentored and coached on leadership). Or it could be for someone who is already established in their career and just wants less commute time.
You will be the main / point person to take the lead in existing Tooele County civil projects, as well as going after new business projects in the nearby area. You will also have the support and technical resources out of the other company offices to put on the projects your leading. Will also attend public meetings as needed, do client presentations and forecasting, oversee product on work-sites, work on RFP's, and similar duties. This is a technical and then as the office grows, leadership role.
Required Skills/Experience:
- 4+ years Civil Engineering work (preferably working with all phases of projects from inception to finish)
- Project planning and project managing experience
- Experience working with project estimating, project costing, gathering and working with data for location and regional supply chain resources
- Experience working / understanding municipal code, and state code for regional civil projects
- Civil3D/AutoCAD, Introads/Microstation and/or other civil design software
- MS Project, Word, Excel, Powerpoint
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or similar
- Valid Drivers license to be able to use company vehicle(s)
*occasional travel may be required to travel to customer / client sites for presentations, project updates, etc...
Bonus / SoftSkills
- Knowledge of funding programs in regional municipalities where projects are worked on.
- High level of effective communication with city/county/state employees - will be working directly with them to gather information, do presentations, and present at municipal meetings.
- Experience leading or managing a team of engineers, or drafters, or designers, or survey crews as needed on civil engineering projects.
