Title: Senior Relay Technician
Location: Chandler, AZ
Pay: $120,000 base salary + OT + Sign-on bonus + Company Vehicle + 401k and Pension
Schedule: Monday - Friday

Contribute your relay commissioning, testing, and project management experience to this senior position supporting programming settings on microprocessor relays, communication protocols, logic, and telemetry devices. You'll use test equipment to simulate faults to validate systems, preventative and corrective maintenance, and submit documentation for asset management and regulatory compliance for the systems. This is a senior role with a growth path into supervisory and leadership opportunities and you will have primarily responsibility for many projects and initiatives in the field.
Job Description:
  • Actively promotes safe working practices along with human performance improvement (HPI) daily.
  • Ensure assigned teams are completing Job Hazard Analysis accurately each workday.
  • Provide oversight for teams involved with:
  • Installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relay equipment, powerline carrier equipment, digital fault recorders (DFR's), remote terminal units (RTU's), and communication processors.
  • Functional testing for protection and control circuitry associated with transmission lines, HV bus, transformer, circuit breaker, feeder, reactors, and capacitor banks.
  • RTU and telecom upgrades for various clients
  • Experienced with SEL microprocessor relays such as 311C, 311L, 387, 411L, 421, 487B, 487E, 487V, 587, 587Z, and 787.
  • Desired experienced with GE microprocessor relays such as C30, D60, F35, L90, T35 and T60.
  • Work with various RTU's and communication processors such as GE, Telvent, SEL, Cooper, and Novatech.
  • Accurately reviewing, documenting, and submitting test reports used for client reporting and regulatory purposes.
  • Interpret one line, three line, wiring, schematic diagrams, communication configurations with ability to recognize and bring attention to discrepancies.
  • Accurately completes time and expense reports along with maintaining good condition of assigned company vehicle.
  • Ideal candidate will have 5+ years experience in the electrical testing industry with a focus working with protection and control equipment, RTU's, and telecom with HV utility, co-op, power generation, federal, or municipal clients.
  • Experience with transmission and distribution relays to include SEL, GE, ABB, and Westinghouse.
  • Experience with substation RTU's, communication processors, and telecom equipment for both brownfield and greenfield projects.
  • Experienced with scoping, scheduling, and budgeting process for protection and control, RTU, and telecom projects for both internal and external entities.
  • Experience with project management of protection and control teams working in HV substations for utility clients.
  • Familiar with NERC CIP requirements.
