RN Emergency Room PT
Summary: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care and needs of each patient (neonate through geriatric).
n
n- Complete comprehensive nursing assessment on each patient under care and document appropriately.
n- Administer medications or delegate medication administration to LPN
n- Perform or delegate nursing interventions and provide for safe and effective nursing care.
n- Advocate for patients and evaluate response to intervention and effectiveness of plan of care.
n- Provide health education to patients and families/caregivers and administer blood products
n- Supervise LPNs and ER Techs to assure competent patient care provided.
n- Supervise ER Technicians
n- Provide care for trauma patients of all ages
n- Serve as house supervisor when necessary including weekends, holidays, and night shift
n- Be familiar with EMS system
n- Communicate using 2 way radio with 911, ambulance service and First Responders
n- Assess acuity level of patient presenting for ER and prioritize who to be seen first, second etc.
n- Periodically reassess patients for condition changes until seen in ER
n- Perform call-back of patients seen in ER to check on condition following treatment per policy.
n- Pass competency and proficiency testing as required by department or hospital
n- Keep current with professional license, certifications and literature review
n

Minimum Qualifications:
n
n- Must have ACLS and PALS
n- 2 years experience working as RN
n- Critical Care or ER experience preferred
n
n
Shifts: Varied, 7p-7a and 7a-7p, 3 week rotation - 5 shifts
