The Clark County Educational Service Center is seeking a full time Occupational Therapist to serve the students of Clark County for the 2025-26 school year.
Title:
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST
Reports to: Director of Special Education
Job Objectives: Provides evaluations and therapeutic interventions to help students identified as having a disability benefit from the instructional program. Encourages parental involvement.
Minimum • Valid Ohio occupational therapy license or certificate.
Qualifications: • Meets all mandated health requirements (e.g., a negative tuberculosis test, etc.).
• A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
• Complies with drug-free workplace rules and board policies.
• Training and/or experience in behavioral management techniques.
Responsibilities The following duties are representative of performance expectations. A reasonable

Functions: essential functions.
• Performs evaluations (e.g., screening, assessments, etc.). Follows board-adopted due process procedures. Evaluates the needs of students based on all available information.
• Works with intervention assistance team (IAT) members to reach a consensus on a plan for identified students. Assists with multi-factored evaluations (MFE) and helps prepare Individualized Education Plans (IEP).
• Develops a therapy schedule. Complies with state model policies and procedures for the education of students identified as having a disability. Works with staff to ensure that services are provided in the least restrictive educational environment.
• Upholds board policies and follows administrative guidelines and procedures.
• Promotes a favorable image of the service center and participating school districts. Supports community partnerships that enhance program services.
• Prepares the assigned therapy area. Sets up equipment. Requisitions supplies.
• Promotes the proper use, care, and storage of supplies and equipment. Oversees the cleaning, repair, and replacement of therapy equipment. Follows standard sanitation procedures to maintain a clean program environment.
• Follows safety precautions when using therapeutic techniques and treatments.
• Provides activities for students to increase strength, dexterity, coordination, and endurance skills. Positions students. Guides students in therapy regimens. Monitors student use of therapy equipment. Teaches students daily living skills and methods to manage their environment.
• Devises or adapts equipment and fabricates splints to facilitate therapy outcomes.
• Provides instructions in the use and care of assistive technology and/or augmentative devices.
• Implements effective pupil management procedures. Maintains high standards and upholds the student conduct code.
• Collaborates with staff to implement behavior improvement plans. Counsels students to acknowledge and manage responsible personal conduct.
• Develops and maintains a positive therapy environment. Helps parents and students understand therapy goals and how they relate to the instructional program.
• Provides guidance, communicates expectations, and shows an active interest in student progress. Facilitates critical-thinking, problem-solving, and creativity skills.
• Collaborates with teachers. Shares knowledge and resources that enhance student learning.
• Helps students take full advantage of the learning environment (e.g., access and proximity to activities, use of adaptive equipment, etc.).
• Documents therapy progress. Supervises the preparation of clinical records to ensure accuracy. Submits reports on time.
• Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
• Consults with parents as needed (e.g., phone calls, messages, meetings, etc.).
• Consults with support personnel to address student concerns (e.g., excessive absences, at-risk behavior, mental/physical health, family/peer relations, etc.).
• Takes precautions to ensure safety. Watches for problem situations. Works with supervisors and other staff to eliminate unacceptable conditions and/or behaviors.
• Reports suspected child abuse and/or neglect to civil authorities as required by law.
• Promotes a full range of educational options. Helps staff resolve problems related to the participation of students with disabilities in appropriate peer group activities.
• Works with community services associated with students' programs (e.g., court systems, law enforcement, health care facilities, child welfare services, etc.).
• Schedules home visits when necessary to support therapy goals. Provides families information about proper techniques to assist with therapy exercises at home.
• Prepares reports and recommendations for each student served.
• Participates in conferences and other required program activities as directed.
• Participates in staff meetings and professional growth opportunities as directed.
• Strives to develop rapport and serves as a positive role model for others.
• Performs other specific job-related duties as directed.
