- Onsite Coverage, shift 7am-5pm. Ongoing need for 10-15 days per month. No night call. Facility has telehealth group coverage after 5pm to 7am
- Setting: General neurology and acute stroke consultations, Inpatient neurology coverage in Acute Care Hospital, TJC certified Stroke Center, Level II Trauma Center

- Duties: Position is for a Neurohospitalist to perform In-patient Neurology coverage. Neurohospitalist service is on-call daily from 7AM to 5PM for acute stroke and also general neurology consultations and ongoing inpatient care. The Neurohospitalist program offers a consulting service with admissions and discharges performed by our medical hospitalists or ICU physicians. Night shifts are currently covered by remote site Tele Neurology services. Board certified Neurologist with Vascular Neurology training is preferred, but a general Neurologist that is experienced with inpatient acute care protocols and the use of thrombolytics or indications for thrombectomy are needed. The neurology candidate must feel comfortable with emergent neurology consultations and interpreting brain CTs, MRIs, CT angiograms and CT perfusion studies. The facility is a certified Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center with on-site Neurovascular Interventional Radiology call coverage for acute stroke care. We are a regional referral center for Neurological care in the California Northstate. Our center has performed from 60-100 stroke thrombectomy procedures per year and typically sees from 400 to 500 strokes, TIAs, and ICHs per year. Also, hospital EEG services are available. EEG interpretation skills are a plus but are not required.
- Required Procedures: The neurology candidate must feel comfortable with emergent neurology consultations and interpreting brain CTs, MRIs, CT angiograms and CT perfusion studies.
- EMR: Cerner Care B
- Support Staff: Stroke Program Coordinator. Neurohospitalist responds to all Stroke Alerts and general neurology and stroke consults on all ED and inpatients. Hospital has neurointerventional radiologists on call 24/7.
- Reason for Coverage: Neurohospitalist service is currently staffed by only one FTE vascular neurologist. Recruitment is pending for a 2nd FTE neurologist with extensive stroke management experience.
- BC in Neurology, BC in Vascular Neurology is strongly preferred. Note: Facility is a TJC-accredited Stroke Center. Vascular neurology experience is required. Board certified Neurologist with Vascular Neurology training is preferred, but a general Neurologist that is experienced with inpatient acute care protocols and the use of thrombolytics or indications for thrombectomy are needed. Also, hospital EEG services are available. EEG interpretation skills are a plus but are not required
- Active CA License - Required
- Residency Requirements/Fellowship - It is preferred that the provider has completed a vascular neurology fellowship but is not required. Must have significant vascular(stroke) experience
