ABOUT THE ROLE


Reporting to the Managing Partner, the Structural Engineering Associate will play a pivotal role in offering services that include general drafting and design of buildings, energy modelling and consultation, structural engineering, building code analysis, and acting as a turn-key prime consultant for building drawings. This comprehensive approach ensures that Zak's Building Group remains at the forefront of innovation and quality in the construction industry. The ideal candidate for this position will be a highly motivated individual with a strong foundation in structural engineering principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and a keen attention to detail.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Analysis and design of concrete, wood, and steel structures
  • Structural engineering of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings
  • Preparing detailed drawings and plans for construction projects
  • Assisting with the analysis and design of building structures
  • Supporting the review and approval process of structural designs
  • Maintaining accurate project documentation and records
  • Conducting site visits to gather data and ensure compliance with design specifications
  • Site inspections and reviews as required
  • Coordination and communication with office staff
  • Coordination and communication with contractors
  • Collaborating with project teams to develop innovative engineering solutions
  • Collaboration with senior engineers to support integrated designs
  • Assisting in the preparation and review of engineering calculations, reports, and specifications
  • Participating in project meetings and presentations to stakeholders
  • Staying current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices
  • Ensuring all engineering work complies with relevant codes, standards, and regulations


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS


  • Registered as E.I.T. or P.Eng. with Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
  • Proficiency in structural engineering design of concrete, wood, and steel structures
  • Good general construction knowledge
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Exceptional work ethic
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Willing to learn and adapt to new challenges and technologies
