Job Description

Primary Role

Millwork Designer is responsible for creating, issuing, revising, and finalizing design packages using 3D CAD software and other Evans-developed applications. The designer is familiar with millwork construction standards and typical industry millwork products, as well as how they integrate with other product lines. The Millwork Designer is capable of executing parametric designs and creating custom products following established product guide documentation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Use 3D CAD software to design parametric cabinetry and millwork solutions.
  • Create manufacturing drawings following accepted drafting standards.
  • Support manufacturing throughout the building process.
  • Generate BoM’s (Bills of Materials), and other related project documents.
  • Perform project signoffs.
  • Support other designers in complex projects, manufacturing support, or schedule support.
  • Engage with Evans Continuous Improvement process in a constructive manner.


Relationships/Interaction:

  • Engage with Project Management and Modeling (and occasionally Sales) at the outset of projects to ensure scope of work is clearly defined.
  • Rely and support on/from other members of the Design team to answer questions, trade knowledge and collaborate on projects where required.
  • Respond promptly to all departments in manufacturing (including supply chain, metal and wood fabrication, electrical and final assembly) to clarify any questions and fix issues as they occur.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced computer literacy and technical expertise
  • Strong understanding of millwork construction standards , including materials, finishes, joinery, and production techniques.
  • Knowledge of typical industry millwork products , such as cabinets, moldings, paneling, and furniture.
  • Ability to produce precise, high-quality design work and ensure designs meet functional, aesthetic, and safety requirements.

Advantageous Skills:

  • Technical Diploma or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience with practical design, or manufacturing industry experience.
  • Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Cabinet vision, Inventor, or similar program.
  • Familiarity with modern Microsoft products, including SharePoint, Teams, and Office 365 suite.
  • Knowledge of CNC machining, primarily related to engineered wood products.
