Senior Production Engineer
Advantage Energy Ltd. (“Advantage ”) is a proud Canadian energy company that recently celebrated its 20-year anniversary. Advantage is an intermediate producer with production of approximately 75,000 BOE/d from high-quality assets concentrated entirely in the Montney and Charlie Lake fairways, located west of Grande Prairie in Northwest Alberta. (“Entropy”), is a new clean-tech carbon capture and sequestration company with its first project underway at Advantage’s Glacier Gas Plant and recently announced a strategic investment from the Canada Growth Fund.
Advantage is actively seeking a Senior Production Engineer to join our team at our downtown office in Calgary, AB. This position will report to the Team Lead, Production Engineering, and is a full-time, permanent role.
The successful candidate will have the following experience and credentials:
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily surveillance of production volumes to ensure assets are operating at their full capability.
- Work closely with the Field Operations team to meet production, development and operating cost goals.
- Participate in development planning and execution activities by providing equipping, tie-in and artificial lift recommendations.
- Provide operating priorities to Field Operations to maximize value in a dynamic environment.
- Collaborate with other office-based technical, financial and corporate disciplines on a variety of issues.
- Drive artificial lift design, operating procedures and run life improvements on rod pump, gas lift and plunger lift equipped wells.
- Monitor gathering system for bottlenecks, identify improvements and participate in pipeline integrity activities.
- Support forecasting, budgeting and reserves activities though a deep understanding of field operations and base production.
- Identify, justify and execute on production optimization, operating cost reduction and emissions reductions projects.
- Support emissions compliance and drive continuous improvement on emission reduction.
- Ensure measurement compliance and production data integrity.
- Represent Advantage to other producers, midstream operators, vendors and regulatory bodies.
- Adhere to and support Advantage HSE systems, while promoting safety awareness.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- 7+ years energy industry experience with significant production engineering experience.
- Must possess the P.Eng or P.Tech (Eng) certification from APEGA/ASET.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with both field and office staff.
- Strong technical skills, coupled with problem-solving skills and creativity.
- Prior field experience is strong asset.
- Good understanding of artificial lift design and troubleshooting.
- Complementary skills of note are workover execution, facilities, exploitation, regulatory, measurement, emissions management, pipeline modelling, nodal analysis, project management, data analytics.
- Able and willing to periodically travel to field locations

Schedule : Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours/week
