Senior Manager, Marketing and Engagement
Location: Toronto - Hybrid work arrangement. Remote work available up to two days a week.
This role involves regular in-person engagements, including meetings with clients or stakeholders, as well as periodic office attendance for team collaboration.
Role Summary
This senior-level leadership role is responsible for driving the strategic growth, marketing, communications, events, and client engagement/retention efforts for an organization committed to advancing sustainability and ethical business practices. As part of the senior management team, this position oversees a team of three and collaborates closely with high-level corporate stakeholders to increase organizational visibility and align client needs with the organization's goals.
Key areas of focus include implementing innovative marketing strategies, enhancing client experiences, and managing event and communication initiatives to promote sustainability and support organizational objectives. Approximately 15-20% travel is required for stakeholder engagement, event representation, and relationship building.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Brand Leadership
Marketing and Communications Strategy:
- Develop and execute marketing strategies to grow the network and enhance brand visibility.
- Craft targeted communication campaigns to engage stakeholders effectively.
- Oversee consistent and high-quality messaging across all channels, including newsletters, press releases, and digital platforms.
- Analyze marketing performance metrics to optimize return on investment (ROI).
Event Strategy and Execution:
- Plan and deliver impactful events, including workshops, receptions, and forums, to retain and engage stakeholders.
- Ensure events meet participant needs and demonstrate thought leadership in sustainability.
Business Development:
- Design and execute strategies to attract new stakeholders and grow the participant base.
- Secure sponsorships and build partnerships to enhance organizational reach.
Ambassadorship:
- Serve as a spokesperson, representing the organization’s mission at high-profile events.
2. Client Engagement and Support
- Lead and enhance client journey experiences by tailoring opportunities and fostering strong relationships.
- Collaborate with team members to design and deliver programs that support stakeholder learning and growth.
- Manage high-level relationships, ensuring client needs are met through tailored solutions.
3. Team Leadership and Development
- Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
- Oversee team members responsible for marketing, communications, events, business development, and client engagement.
4. Operational Excellence
- Implement tools and systems to optimize engagement, such as CRM platforms and analytics tools.
- Streamline processes for onboarding, reporting, and administration to ensure a seamless client experience.
5. Travel and Relationship Building
- Travel 15-20% for client engagement, events, and strategic relationship development.
- Cultivate relationships with corporate leaders, sponsors, and stakeholders to advance organizational goals.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Expertise in marketing, communication strategies, and event execution.
- Proven experience in business development and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and data analytics.
- Knowledge of sustainability and corporate responsibility practices.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Advanced training or certifications in sustainability or marketing are an asset.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of senior-level experience in marketing, business development, or client engagement roles.
- Demonstrated success in managing clients, strategic communication, and achieving sales targets.
- Experience in corporate sustainability and responsibility is highly desirable.
