About the Role
The Operations Analyst will be a key member of the Operational Excellence team, responsible for providing support and analytical work to the Operations department, primarily monitoring, and optimizing operating plant performance. Operations analysis supports include chilled water, steam, hot water and power production performance monitoring, daily production projection and external factor evaluation. The Operations Analyst also plays a key role in metering and billing. They analyze customer consumption patterns to spot any abnormalities, coordinate to address any metering issues before billing at month end and support the finance department with monthly billing. They will also support operational KPI reporting.
The Operations Analyst is a key member in the System Operations team to provide support to all Canadian Systems. We are seeking a hardworking individual who is passionate about decarbonization and has a desire to play an active role in the transition to clean energy.
Duties & Responsibilities
Plant Operations Analysis
o Provide analysis to the operations team on heating, cooling, and power generation systems. This includes monitoring plant performances and efficiencies, analyzing operating and loading strategies, providing information to Plant Chiefs and local General Managers to help troubleshoot plant issues, forecasting loads, and monitoring energy consumptions.
o Optimize plant operations by developing and fine-tuning heating and cooling production models, and analyzing variances in performance.
o Collect and analyze customer heating and cooling consumption data for billing analysis, metering dispute justification and peak shaving feasibility.
Budget
o Verify the steam and chilled water production models to ensure the budgeted productions and targets are accurate and reasonable.
o Assist in the review of plant operating and capital budgets by gathering background information and performing payback analysis.
Project Management
o Identify customer sites where meters require replacement due to asset age and performance status.
o Develop project documentation including communication with customers, new meter proposal, engineering drawings and tender documents.
o Provide on-site support to contractors and consultants and liaison between line crew and external resources.
Report Generation
o Generate various KPI reports for the Operations and Finance teams on a regular basis.
o Manage KPI dashboards.
o Monitor real time KPI reporting dashboards and troubleshoot if needed.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- The successful candidate should come with a post secondary degree or diploma, preferably in mechanical engineering, or in electric/system design engineering.
- 5+ years of experience.
- Strong English communication skills (written and verbal).
- Proficient computer skills with MS Word, Excel, Power BI and Database.
- Experience with Python (Programing Language) and utility billing, preferred.
- Organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability and desire to learn.
- Must be able to respond to tight deadlines during regular and peak periods, and to last-minute demands or requirements.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment which requires a high level of flexibility and adaptability.
