Pauktuutit, as the national voice of Inuit women in Canada, has a key role to play in ensuring a gender-equality lens in policies impacting Inuit Women and in promoting greater progress in priority areas for Inuit women and children, across health and well-being, violence, and abuse prevention, safety, and socio-economic development. THE ROLE:
The President and CEO is responsible for the strategic and thoughtful implementation and deployment of Pauktuutit’s vision, mission and mandate with the highest standards on behalf of Inuit women. Alongside the Board (BoD) and VP, Operations, the role leads on the development and execution of Pauktuutit’s strategic plan which includes developing and overseeing implementation of new focus areas, fund diversification and stakeholder management.
This role is the key liaison role between the BoD and the Pauktuutit team and manages overall organizational risk and risk mitigation strategies.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Fluency in English and Inuktitut; working knowledge of French is an asset.
- Commitment to Pauktuutit’s values, mission and vision.
- Strategic Thinking – a visionary with ability to inspire others to the organization’s mission and vision. Ability to understand the organizations position relative to what’s happening in the external environment; can scale from big picture to details anticipating emerging trends and envisioning the right strategies including change management to move from vision to implementation, tracking and measuring impact.
- Project Management – ability to understand and communicate interdependencies that lead to the critical path; assess and communicate progress toward long-term objectives. The ability to proactively plan, prioritize and meet competing deadlines for multiple projects.
- Social and Emotional intelligence to support partnership development, relationship management with ability to build trusting relationships, credibility, with a wide range of stakeholders. Ability to influence stakeholders, connect partners to improve impact and advocacy efforts.
- Critical thinking with ability to perform in-depth analyses of a range of extremely complex problems requiring evaluation of multiple intangible variables and alternative solutions, leveraging discretion and sound judgement to make accurate and timely decisions.
- Political acumen with strong knowledge or experience with policy structures of the Canadian government, including parliamentary committees, governance systems.
- Excellent communicator, presenter, and storyteller – clear, concise, and articulate both written and verbal with the ability to write high quality, compelling messages for various mediums and audiences and a keen eye for detail.
- Strong negotiation skills with ability to motivate others to desired outcomes while ensuring preservation of critical relationships to Pauktuutit’s vision.
- A team leader and team builder - leadership style that is collaborative, inclusive and respectful and inspires others to the mission and vision. Commitment to high professional standards, and leading/building high performance teams in a diverse workplace including a hybrid or remote context.
- Experience leading organizations, in particular with a focus on working together to effectively deliver projects and advocate for better futures.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing non-profit finances and project based financial commitments and ensuring compliance with contribution agreement requirements.
- A degree from a recognized university in a relevant discipline or commensurate credentials and experience (ex. public administration, public policy, human rights, business management, or special studies in Advocacy), and/or related equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 15 years' progressive experience in non-profit management, or funding-based organization, including a minimum of 10 years’ leading cross functional teams.
- Experience managing correspondence and reports effectively and preparing materials for submission to governments and tribunals.
- Demonstrated experience with managing non-profit finances and ensuring compliance with contribution agreement requirements.
- Demonstrated general management experience with hands-on experience in strategy development and execution and managing non-profit finances and ensuring compliance with contribution agreement requirements.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience within a board governance framework.
- An effective network within the sector, both public-government and private industry and/or ability to build strong business relationships and networks in the sector to support Pauktuutit’s priorities.
- Experience working with Inuit; and knowledge of the current political, social, and economic conditions of Inuit.
