What We’re Looking For:

• Experience : 3-5 years of relevant purchasing experience, ideally in construction or manufacturing.
• Education : Post-secondary education in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is an asset.
• Technical Skills : Experience with ERP systems and intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Negotiation Skills : Strong negotiation skills with an understanding of their impact on project timelines and costs.
• Time Management : Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Relationship Building : Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, production teams, and internal stakeholders.
• Inventory Management : Proven experience in inventory control, ensuring materials are available without overstocking.
• Self-Starter : A motivated, proactive individual who works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Integrity : Demonstrates professionalism, honesty, and transparency in all procurement activities.

Your Role at Steelcon:

As a Buyer at Steelcon, you will be responsible for managing procurement activities, ensuring the timely and cost-effective purchase of materials for various projects. You will work closely with production, engineering, and other teams to ensure material availability aligns with project timelines and requirements. Your responsibilities will include:

• Negotiating & Purchasing : Negotiate with suppliers and place purchase orders for materials required by the organization.
• Order Management : Monitor purchase orders from creation through to delivery, ensuring materials arrive on time and meet quality standards.
• Supplier Coordination : Coordinate with suppliers, production, and engineering teams to ensure materials meet specifications and are available when needed.
• Inventory Control : Maintain optimal inventory levels to support production needs while minimizing excess stock.
• Procurement Process Improvement : Continuously assess and improve procurement strategies to reduce costs, optimize inventory, and streamline processes.
• Data Analysis : Perform data entry and analysis to track procurement performance and contribute to demand planning and pricing strategies.
• Sourcing & Quotation Evaluation : Source, request, and evaluate quotations for new or non-standard items, ensuring competitive pricing and quality.
• Timely Responses : Respond promptly and efficiently to all inquiries related to procurement and material orders.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with internal teams to address material shortages and ensure smooth project execution.
