Our client is looking for a Senior Designer to aid with the creation of designs and technical drawings for a wide variety of mechanical equipment and parts. This role works closely with Design Technologists, Engineers, and fabrication departments to develop and improve manufacturing systems and processes. This Designer is responsible for reviewing specifications and other data to develop mechanical layouts.

Responsibilities:

• Examine sketches and analyze design ideas to evaluate their feasibility, collaborate with senior designers, fabrication, and sales team, and use your skill to ensure that the best products are produced
• Make suggestions for product improvement
• Use Solidworks to complete models, conduct FEA simulations and create drawings for manufacturing
• Use Solidworks/AutoCAD to revise previously built equipment
• Ability to perform mechanical calculations such as weight & balance, etc.
• Familiarity with hydraulics and pneumatics components and systems
• Familiarity with regulations like OH&S, MHSA, transport, etc.
• Use the ERP software Extend to prepare bills of material for the ordering of parts
• Use customer, shop, and service data to upgrade, improve or repair the existing line of products

Qualifications:

• Legally allowed to work and live in Canada
• College diploma as an Engineering Technologist
• Certified Engineering Technologist license from ASET or equivalent
• 5+ years’ experience in a design technologist role preferably in aggregate machinery or related industries
• Knowledge of various software programs such as Solidworks Suite including PDM and Simulation, AutoCAD, MS Office Suite
• Excellent in time management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively to ensure deadlines are met
• Possess critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to develop creative solutions
• Ability to contribute to improvements in the process or the product
• Understanding of complex drawings and blueprints
