Position Summary:

As a physical therapist, you will assess patients' needs and implement tailored treatment plans aimed at improving or restoring function. You will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams for community education and potentially oversee the clinical education of students.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program, minimum B.S. required.
  • Current Connecticut Physical Therapy license is mandatory.

Key Competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Windows-based software and basic computer skills.
  • Reliable transportation for potential travel between multiple sites for job duties.

Essential Duties:

  1. Evaluate patients according to departmental standards.
  2. Adjust evaluations based on symptoms, activity levels, and medical status to set individualized, measurable goals.
  3. Administer rehabilitative exercises, pain relief modalities, and manual techniques effectively.
  4. Educate patients and their families on home exercise programs to enhance independent function.
  5. Assess when a patient has reached optimal benefits from therapy and recommend discharge if suitable.
  6. Ensure documentation meets insurance requirements and follows departmental policies.
  7. Maintain effective communication with physicians and interdisciplinary team members regarding patient care.
  8. Complete daily charge submissions accurately.
  9. Uphold the professional code of ethics established by the APTA.
  10. Utilize proper body mechanics and safety protocols in all duties.
  11. Provide supervision for at least one affiliated student annually.
  12. Participate in continuous education to enhance treatment expertise.
  13. Engage in at least one departmental or community educational service annually.
