TITLE: Water Plant Operator II
LOCATION: Lee County, Florida
SALARY: $26.50 - $33.50/hr
SCHEDULE:
8-hour day shift. Normally, 7am – 3pm. Flexible on the start and end times, 6am – 2pm or 8am – 4pm with appropriate notice and approval.
OVERVIEW:
Under general supervision, performs responsible technical and supervisory work in the operations and mechanical maintenance of a water facility. Assists in the administrative, technical, and supervisory work in the management and daily operation of the treatment plant and laboratory collection and sampling. Coordinates and supervises work activities of treatment plant personnel. Reports to the Chief Operator.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides technical support and guidance in the work activities of treatment plant personnel.
- Supervises the activities of subordinates in their performance of maintenance, repair and operation of water plant, sub-station, and wellfields.
- Reviews the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy; evaluates and makes recommendations as appropriate.
- Ensures safe, effective operations of plant facilities in accordance with related State and Federal regulations.
- Initiates corrective actions to plant malfunctions.
- Maintains accurate and complete records on the plant operation and laboratory data.
- Assists in formulating and implementing practice rules, techniques, and procedures.
- Ensures safe use of all treatment related supplies.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
REQUIREMENTS:
Required Qualifications : Minimum of "B" certification as a Florida licensed water treatment plant operator.
Required Experience : Three years of water plant treatment experience with some R/O or nano membrane treatment process knowledge included.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods.
MUST HAVES FOR ROLE:
- Utility Pants: Employees must wear durable utility pants suitable for the work environment.
- Safety Shoes: Steel-toed or other appropriate safety shoes are mandatory to protect against workplace hazards.
- Candidates must consent to and pass a background check and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
