Site Therapeutics aims to map — down to the nucleotide — the genetic determinants driving immune cell function in human health and disease. Leveraging technology developed in the Marson Lab at UCSF/Gladstone, we will conduct high-throughput functional genomics in human cells to build a blueprint for fine-tuned control of immune cell function. This detailed map will lead to the development of new therapeutics across modalities for a range of immune-related conditions. Our Senior Research Associate, Flow Cytometry position will be a part of our team to systematically map residues governing disease-relevant phenotypes.

The primary responsibilities of the Senior Research Associate, Flow Cytometry will be:

• Flow cytometry and fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) of primary human cells
• Routine start-up, shut down and maintenance of our FACS sorters
• Manage inventory of FACS reagents, equipment operation, service requests and training of new users
• Culture and optimization of primary mammalian cells, including T cells
• Using molecular biology techniques on primary cells, including next generation sequencing (NGS) and gene editing techniques
• Optimization of biological and biochemical assays to screen and validate novel targets
• Development of novel protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the new company
• Close collaboration with a team of Scientists and other Research Associates to stick to tight timelines while creating a large map of genomic sites impacting immune cells
• Strong organizational and communication skills are required

Qualifications:

• BS plus 2-4 years of experience or MS plus 0-2 years of experience
• Strong experience in multi-color flow cytometry and FACS such as panel design, gating, compensation, technical troubleshooting and data analysis using FlowJo
• Experience with mammalian cell culture preferred
• Experience with lentivirus generation is a plus
• Hands-on experience utilizing molecular biology approaches like PCR, DNA isolation, and molecular cloning is a plus
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written)
• Willingness and ability to learn new methods and skills for changing research priorities
• Ability to keep detailed and organized records of experimental protocols and results
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a research team
• Ability to prioritize tasks, coordinate work tasks with others, and meet multiple deadlines
• Self-starter with an interest in building a team from the ground up at a brand new start-up
