Plant Engineer - Food Manufacturer in Meridian, Texas

Our 50+ year old food manufacturing client has created a new plant engineer role that will report to the VP of Operations. This role does not have any direct reports at this time. Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility is to oversee the operation, maintenance, and design of food plant machinery and equipment.
  • Design, install and commission new production units, monitor developments and troubleshoot existing processes.
  • Assess processes, take measurements and interpret data.
  • Ensure all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with organization’s established policies and objectives.
  • Plan and implement plant improvements and expansions.
  • Prepare reports, analyze data, and make recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot plant/process problems.
  • Implement corrective/preventative action procedures and manage their execution.
  • Knowledge and understanding and operations of ammonia and refrigeration systems.
  • Work closely with other professionals, such as operation Supervisors, Warehouse and QA, to ensure the smooth operation of the plant.
  • Managing, guiding, and leading maintenance teams to ensure smooth operational processes.



Qualifications

  • BSc degree in Engineering or relevant field.
  • Proven work experience as a Plant Engineer.
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems and food manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation related to industry, as well as environmental laws and guidelines.
  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD or other computer-aided design software.
  • Routine checks and maintenance to the planning and implementation of new system installations.
  • Identify and implement changes to production processes that can improve productivity, reduce costs, or increase safety.
  • Oversee the implementation of new technologies or equipment upgrades, ensuring that they are installed correctly and safely, and that staff are trained to use them.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications and schematics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience in managing, guiding, and leading teams to ensure smooth operation processes.
  • Proven expertise in designing and implementing project plans and strategies.
  • Physical ability to conduct site inspections and operate plant machinery as needed.
