Warren Averett is seeking an Attorney for an established firm in Birmingham, AL. The candidate must be licensed to practice law in Mississippi and Alabama. The Attorney is responsible for the intake and substantiation of new claims received from clients in addition to reviewing and signing pleadings and correspondence.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicate effectively and appropriately with both internal and external partners, via verbal and written forms of communication.
- Intake and substantiation of new claims received from clients.
- Drafting, Reviewing, and signing pleadings and correspondence
- Participate in developing the strategy, etc., to prepare for the presentation of cases.
- Research and interpret laws, regulations, procedures, etc.
- Maintain compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and other applicable regulations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients and act on behalf of the client’s best interest at all stages of the legal process.
- Analyze and process data, as assigned by the Client Litigation Manager or Managing Attorney, to make certain that workflow is being followed in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations, client policy and procedures, and firm standard operating procedures.
- Other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Juris Doctor degree (J.D.) and 0-3 years of experience, or an equivalent of education, training, and experience.
- Experience in a high-volume environment
- Collections/Creditor’s Rights experience (preferred)
- Must hold a current, valid state licensure to practice law in Mississippi.
- Additionally, willingness to obtain these additional licensures is a plus.
- Must be able to pass criminal background, credit check and pre-employment drug screen.
