Launched in 2021 by a group of former bulge bracket investors and life sciences executives, Eckuity Capital is a New York and London based healthcare investor providing growth capital across MedTech, HealthTech and Biotech services. Eckuity targets regulatorily de-risked healthcare businesses with high commercial potential and seek to deliver better outcomes for patients, higher productivity for providers and innovators and lower costs for the system. We are looking for an individual with an MD or PhD to join our team as a Principal. The firm manages over $150 million in assets and is in the process of launching its second fund in 2025.

The role

The Principal would be responsible for end-to-end deal management and execution from sourcing deals to organizing/leading various due diligence processes to presenting select deals to the IC for funding approval. Key responsibilities include sourcing companies within the fund’s verticals of investment and according to internal qualitative and quantitative metrics

Specific Job Functions:

• Track, monitor, and model venture portfolio. Update senior investment personnel on development and trends that may require action

• Source transactions and complete initial deal screening and due diligence. Bring forward viable recommendations to Investment Committee to move into full diligence

• Meet with company management, key opinion leader consultants, and our investment counterparties (e.g., investment bankers, analysts, vendors, etc.).

• Perform due diligence on pipeline assets using various sources including scientific, technical and medical literature, company or industry analyst reports, consultants, etc.

• Participate in company due diligence and Investment Committee meetings.

• Analyze and interpret scientific, technological, and financial data.

• Build and maintain market databases (financial estimates) for specific treatment/ therapeutic modalities

• Build company specific valuation models (e.g., DCF-NPV).

• Aggregate and analyze relevant industry news flow.

• Cover and report on industry conferences; and

• May over time represent the Firm on the boards of portfolio companies.

Requirements

MUST be a graduate (BA/BS and/or Graduate degree) of a top university with a strong academic record;

MUST have an advanced scientific degree (MD / PhD in the biological or chemical sciences) from a top university; Any additional AI qualifications are a plus

MUST have related work experience beyond academic training;

MUST have a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial modeling skills in Excel (e.g., company-specific valuation, market models, etc.);

MUST be organized, have strong communications skills, and be a self-starter and able to work in a collaborative team environment;

MUST have strong scientific and or clinical acumen;

MUST have passion, integrity and work ethic and the ability to develop and grow with the firm; and

MUST have prior non-academic work experience – 5+ years in sell-side equity research, consulting, venture capital, investment banking, or at a biotech / pharma company, medical device company or “big tech”
