S&Co is looking for a high-energy, results-driven, and ambitious Public Relations Account Director to lead our public relations team. The ideal candidate will deeply understand and have a passion for lifestyle, health and wellness, and public relations. They should possess strong relationships with key media and a solid grasp of maximizing influencer engagement as part of a PR campaign. Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience managing and fostering growth among multiple clients are essential.
The Account Director must be an effective multi-tasker skilled at balancing long-term strategic plans while overseeing the execution of tactical projects. This role will involve leading the strategic planning process and continuously developing and implementing original, creative communication programs for our clients. The ideal candidate will have excellent media relations skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while delivering consistent, high-quality results.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead account management for clients, overseeing the junior PR team and all deliverables
- Supervise, advise, and collaborate with the Senior Director/VP in the development and execution of overall strategy and communications for client programs and initiatives. This includes media relations, mailings, media events, ambassador/influencer programs, event seeding and sampling, sponsorship development, and brand partnerships.
- Work closely with account teams to review and create key client-facing documents, such as press materials (e.g., press releases), client strategies and plans, bi-monthly status reports, monthly recaps, and more
- Draft press releases and pitches, pursue timely press opportunities, and conduct proactive outreach to support agency clients, brands, and individuals
- Secure top-tier media coverage, including feature profiles and product placements, and adjust strategies and tactics as necessary
- Manage or attend onsite media events, media tours, red-carpet events, and more
- Participate in bi-monthly calls with clients and provide ongoing strategic counsel
- Oversee client budget management and provide necessary metrics and KPIs
- Network to leverage existing industry relationships while developing new connections
- Manage and mentor junior team members
- Research, evaluate, and pitch new business opportunities
ATTRIBUTES:
- 8-10 years of public relations experience
- A strong team-oriented leader with vision and clarity and a desire to mentor and grow team members
- Strong media relations experience in lifestyle, health and wellness, beauty, natural foods, book launches, and packaged/consumer goods (broadcast, print, digital, podcasts)
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- An approach that integrates strategic thinking with big, bold, creative ideas
- A proven track record of building and executing successful PR strategies
- Hands-on experience networking and building relationships, writing communications proposals, and pitching new business opportunities
- Long-term strategic vision with the ability to simultaneously manage short-term/ongoing/day-to-day activities and activations
- Strong project management and prioritization skills; ability to execute against multiple projects simultaneously
