Job Description

ZimZee Recruiting is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer for a Medical Device client in the Lehi area. The candidate will possess a strong understanding of firmware development and testing, coupled with a basic knowledge of hardware and electronics. You will be instrumental in verifying and validating firmware to meet the highest standards of safety, performance, and reliability.


Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in firmware development, testing, and verification.
  • Good experience in C and C++.
  • Knowledge of firmware testing tools and environments, including JTAG, debuggers, and logic analyzers.
  • Understanding of the interaction between firmware and hardware, with basic knowledge of electronic components and circuits.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, such as IEC 62304, and other medical device standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve firmware-related issues effectively.
  • Attention to detail to ensure thorough verification and validation of firmware.
  • Excellent communication skills for documenting and reporting test results.
  • Adaptability to new technologies and testing methodologies.
  • Effective time management skills to handle multiple tasks and projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, execute, and analyze firmware-specific tests to ensure functionality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with the development team to address firmware issues and implement improvements.
  • Use tools such as JTAG, debuggers, and logic analyzers to troubleshoot and validate firmware performance.
  • Ensure firmware complies with relevant regulations and standards, including IEC 62304.
  • Document and report all testing outcomes, including any defects or issues identified.
  • Support the integration of firmware with hardware, addressing any compatibility concerns.
