Job Qualifications & Responsibilities:
- 6 + years of experience required in network engineering.
- Responsible for designing, testing, implementing, and supporting network infrastructure.
- Provide consultation and direct technical support in life cycle planning, problem management, integration, and network configuration.
- Supports and administers firewall environments in line with IT security policy.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- Reports network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information and managing projects.
- Performs basic configuration of firewalls.
- Provides remote support of on-site engineers and end users/customers during installation.
- Provides remote troubleshooting and fault finding if issues occur upon initial installation.
- Communicates with customers via email and phone for initial requirement capture.
- Undertakes data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments, using information from multiple sources.
- Secures network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access.
- Upgrades data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases.
- Configures routing and switching equipment.
- Configures hosted IP voice services.
- Performs capacity management and auditing of IP addressing and hosted devices within data centers.
- Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation, defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
- Designs and implements new solutions and improves resilience of current environment.
- Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
- Communicates with project management teams, third-line engineers and service desk engineers on a regular basis.
