Clark Pacific is seeking a Structural Engineer to support our West Sacramento location.
Overview of the position:
The Lead Design Engineer applies structural engineering skills and building code knowledge to analyze, design, and facilitate construction of building systems. They will participate in preparing design deliverables and will work with various project management teams to research structurally sound and cost-effective building solutions and develop design tools. Lead Product Engineer is expected to work more autonomously than the Product Engineer position.

- Exercise a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when working with staff, projects, and proprietary information.
- Prepare structural engineering design calculations and accompanying details for building systems.
- Review construction drawings for conformance with structural calculations.
- Perform preliminary structural engineering / sales engineering
- Review contract drawings and specifications for consistency with precast construction drawings and to ensure continuity of load paths.
- Partner with Project Management team to determine cost-effective construction details.
- Create design tools ranging from span tables to macro driven Excel tools
- Provide production support calculations for modifications needed to facilitate fabrication.
- Observe fabrication of elements for general conformance with design intent. Report any inconsistencies and works with Quality Control (QC), Project Management, and/or Manufacturing Departments to remedy them.
- Review and/or design repair/fixes for as-built conditions. Offer structural solutions for these conflicts/deviations.
- Visit job sites during erection and observe construction for general conformance with original design. Report any inconsistencies to QC, Project Management, RCE, and Field Erection Departments.
- Research current and new design standards, codes, and methods of construction. Stay current with building codes.
- Validate design through structural testing when required. Provide test procedures, data recording, and reporting of results and recommendations.
- Stay current with the building codes and industry standards of design.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education:
- BS in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
- MS in Civil or Structural Engineering is preferred.
- 3-5 years of professional engineering work experience is required.
- Registered Civil or Structural Engineer is preferred.
- Programming experience is preferred.
