Job Description

Are you ready to lead the transformation of a newly acquired facility for a global leader in automotive manufacturing?

A Tier 1 automotive parts supplier is seeking a Plant Engineer to lead the transformation of a newly acquired metal stamping and coating facility.

This role will play a crucial part in overhauling the plant and driving it towards modern, state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities over the next 4-5 years, making it a perfect fit for someone eager to drive change and make a significant impact.

This company, founded in the 1950s and with a multi-billion-dollar global footprint, has a strong reputation for innovation, vertical integration, and high-quality solutions for the automotive industry. With over 60 state-of-the-art facilities worldwide, they are trusted by major OEMs like Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler, providing a dynamic and stable work environment. This facility primarily produces stamped metal part assemblies, including headliner supports, hitch mounting supports, and other automotive components.

Why Join?

This is a rare opportunity to be at the forefront of transforming a facility from the ground up, with significant influence over its future direction. As part of a multi-billion-dollar corporation with a strong track record of revitalizing older plants, this role is ideal for someone looking to take on a high-impact leadership position and make a lasting mark on the company’s operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic transformation of the plant, including facility upgrades and equipment overhauls.
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure efficiency, safety, and quality standards.
  • Manage P&L, budgets, and financial performance in partnership with the plant Controller.
  • Collaborate with departments across manufacturing, supply chain, sales, and accounting to drive operational success.
  • Direct capital projects and equipment installations to optimize production capabilities.
  • Report to the VP and work closely with corporate leadership to meet business objectives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred, but not required.
  • 10+ years of experience in plant engineering, with a strong understanding of manufacturing operations, preferably in metal stamping, injection molding, or related industries.
  • Proven experience managing P&L, budgets, and financial performance for a facility.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing multi-departmental operations and driving process improvements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and build strong relationships.
  • AutoCAD experience is required for plant layouts.

The position comes with a competitive salary, 3 weeks of PTO, and a generous relocation package, including a fully furnished apartment for the first year.
