Job Title: Embedded Design Engineer
Location: Northwest Houston
Schedule: Hybrid - 2 days in office, 3 days remote
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Embedded Design Engineer with a background in taking projects from concept to final production. This role will focus on developing, testing, and refining embedded systems in line with project requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in C or C++ programming , serial communication protocols , and proficient debugging skills. This position is based in Northwest Houston, with a hybrid work model allowing some remote flexibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement embedded systems from initial concept through to final production.
- Write, test, and optimize firmware in C or C++ for real-time embedded systems.
- Develop and maintain serial communication interfaces (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, CAN) for system integration.
- Utilize debugging tools and techniques to troubleshoot and resolve firmware and hardware issues.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, QA, and manufacturing) to ensure project milestones are met.
- Conduct performance testing and analysis, identifying areas for optimization and improvement.
- Document technical specifications, design processes, and test protocols in alignment with engineering best practices.
- Participate in design reviews and provide input on system architecture, component selection, and design trade-offs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or a related field).
- 3+ years of experience in embedded product development or related engineering roles.
- Proficiency in C or C++ programming for embedded systems.
- Experience with serial communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, CAN).
- Strong troubleshooting skills using debugging tools (e.g., JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
- Proven track record of managing embedded projects from concept to production.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid setting.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building test jigs
- Knowledge of embedded Linux or other embedded operating systems.
- Familiarity with schematic and PCB design principles.
