The company handles a variety of immigration cases, including deportation defence and detention work, family-based and humanitarian-based immigration benefits, T and U Visas, VAWA applications, and asylum matters.
In addition to providing direct representation to clients before the Immigration Court and USCIS, the position requires preparing and delivering community education; conducting outreach; active bar participation; and special legal and community projects. The position will also be responsible for the supervision of immigration staff attorneys and paralegals.
Qualifications
- Member in good standing of the Florida Bar Association;
- Eight years of experience in Immigration law preferred;
- Experience with supervising staff;
- Experience serving low-income individuals, victims of crime, veterans, or other marginalized communities preferred but not required;
- A demonstrable awareness and sensitivity to the needs of the populations we serve;
- Ability to work effectively with a large caseload and function professionally within a highly stressful environment;
- Strong organizational and time management skills;
- Ability to work independently at times and also as an effective part of a team, including other attorneys, support staff, volunteers, and community partners;
- Excellent written and communication skills;
- Ability to work constructively with others;
- The ability to speak more than one language is a plus.
