Job Title: Telephony Replacement Installation Specialist
Location: Starting with Dublin, CA and then Nationwide
Contract Duration: Initial project term with potential extension as required
Job Overview:
The Telephony Replacement Installation Specialist will be responsible for executing the installation, configuration, and validation of POTS-in-a-Box (PIAB) systems, Mood Media Music Players, Indyme Call Buttons, and Store Burglar Alarm Panels. This role requires expertise in low-voltage cabling, network hardware installation, and adherence to client's IT Group’s stringent installation standards. The position demands meticulous attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to follow an established project schedule to ensure efficient deployment across over 2,100 retail locations.
Key Responsibilities:
Low Voltage Cabling Installation:
- Run and terminate CAT6 plenum cables between designated areas such as the manager’s office, IT equipment room, and electrical room.
- Ensure clean connectivity by testing all cable runs and connections.
- Adhere to cable management standards, utilizing Velcro ties and clear labeling practices.
Hardware Installation and Configuration:
- Install and validate PIAB and PBX hardware devices, connecting analog lines to the PBX system.
- Connect Mood Media and Indyme devices using CAT5/CAT6 patch cables and terminate connections to designated network ports.
- Set up Store Burglar Alarm panels by installing Ethernet connections or running new cable pathways if necessary.
Material and Equipment Management:
- Stage, purchase, or rent materials such as CAT6 cables, RJ45 connectors, biscuit jacks, dual-port faceplates, and scissor lifts where needed.
- Use Ethernet cable testers to validate all cable runs.
- Provide photographic documentation of completed installations.
Problem Resolution:
- Manage and resolve technical issues that arise during installations.
- Coordinate with the client Deployment Team for guidance on non-standard configurations.
Schedule Adherence and Reporting:
- Follow the project’s strict installation schedule and guidelines.
- Ensure timely completion of all assigned store installations.
- Submit progress reports and any required documentation via Coupa before the specified deadline.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proficient in low-voltage cabling and network hardware installation.
- Strong understanding of PBX systems, Cisco network switches, and PIAB devices.
- Skilled in cable management, including labeling and routing cables per industry standards.
- Experience using tools such as Ethernet cable testers, label makers, and Velcro ties.
- Ability to work with scissor lifts and access hard-to-reach areas (certifications preferred).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
Requirements:
- Ability to travel nationwide to client store locations.
- Availability for after-hours work if installations require access to the selling floor.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
- Physical ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
