Job Description:
Theoris Services is searching for an IT Business Analyst/Software Tester to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the excellence and functionality of our software products. This role is a liaison between business stakeholders and the technical team to identify, analyze, and document requirements for IT projects. In addition, the role involves designing, executing, and documenting manual test cases to ensure the quality and functionality of software applications. 75% of the work will be Business Analysis and 25% Manual Testing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document comprehensive business requirements for new systems or enhancements to existing systems.
- Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications, using the “SMART” format (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-Bound).
- Conduct requirement analysis and validation walk-throughs with requirements providers to validate the defined requirements.
- Conduct gap analysis to identify discrepancies between business needs and technical capabilities.
- Facilitate communication between technical teams and business units to ensure alignment of project goals and objectives
- Ensure adherence to BABOK (Business Analyst Book of Knowledge) assurance standards and best practices.
- Manually design, develop, test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on business and functional requirements.
- Manually perform functional, integration, regression, destructive and System Integration (SIT) UI, UX and integration testing to validate software performs as defined in the requirements. Pen (Penetration) testing is currently out of scope for this role.
- Identify, document, prioritize and track software defects and ensure timely resolution with the development team.
- Collaborate with the development team to ensure defects are resolved before deployment.
- Maintain detailed and organized test documentation, including test results, logs, and detailed and summary defect reports.
- Support project management activities, including risk assessments and status reporting.
- Be the focal point for support calls during the post-implementation warranty period and track warranty period incidents.
- Provide training and support to end-users as required.
- Ensure adherence to quality assurance standards and best practices.
- Participate in post-implementation reviews to assess project success and lessons learned.
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on analysis and testing outcomes.
REQUIREMENTS:
- US Citizen and reliable transportation to Fishers, IN Monday through Thursday during business hours (start around 8 AM, end around 4:30 PM – times are somewhat flexible)
- 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in an IT environment working on software application projects
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies.
- Proficiency in documenting business and technical requirements using MS Word and JIRA.
- Experience creating manual test cases and execution. If you have experience logging, scoring, prioritizing and monitoring defects in ANY tool, that will suffice.
- Experience with defect tracking tools and manual testing frameworks.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Desired: Familiarity with SQL for database testing and querying (preferred – not required).
