Company: CornerStone Technology Talent Services

Company Overview:

CornerStone TTS is a leading technology organization seeking a dedicated QA Analyst to join our dynamic software development team. Our team of 19 professionals is focused on implementing and testing real-time, messaging-centric safety systems. We specialize in developing and testing server and client .NET applications, ASP.NET websites, and embedded Linux software.

Role Overview:

Under the guidance of the QA Manager, the QA Analyst will play a critical role in ensuring software quality through test design, execution, and troubleshooting. This role primarily involves manual testing at the user interface level in a fast-paced, technically complex environment.

The ideal candidate thrives on collaboration, supports multiple testing environments, and is comfortable working onsite to manage and test lab equipment. A limited hybrid schedule (one remote day per week) may be available after a six-month ramp-up period, contingent on demonstrated competence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute tests to enhance software quality.
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware issues, including log analysis for errors and message flows.
  • Monitor and maintain lab infrastructure.
  • Manage software configurations and testing environments (QA, labs, production).
  • Document processes, testing outcomes, and QA improvements.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform physical activities such as lifting up to 30 lbs., distinguishing colors, and using hand tools.

Technical Qualifications

Experience

  • Extensive Background in Software Testing:
  • 7+ years in progressively advanced software testing roles.
  • 5+ years specializing in manual test case development and execution for desktop applications and websites.

  • Configuration Management Knowledge: Familiar with activities and terminology such as trunk/main and branch workflows.
  • Strong Professional Skills: Advanced organizational, communication, and time management capabilities.
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Advanced user of MS Word and Excel.
  • 1-2 years of experience in SQL for data management and validation.

Abilities

  • Troubleshooting Mastery: Skilled in diagnosing and resolving software and hardware issues, including log analysis and message flow investigation.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Effective in medium-documentation, high-productivity environments, fostering team support and knowledge sharing.
  • Process Improvement Advocate: Proactive in identifying and implementing enhancements to QA processes.
  • Documentation Expertise: Capable of writing and critically reviewing technical documents.
  • Independent and Strategic: Self-motivated, with a proven ability to engage stakeholders, analyze user stories, and independently plan and execute tests.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with SPLUNK for system monitoring and log analysis.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint for documentation and collaboration.
  • Linux operating system proficiency.
  • Automation testing experience using UFT.
  • Familiarity with the railroad industry and its unique software testing requirements.

Educational Qualifications

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Considered: Equivalent professional experience in relevant domains.
