About the Role.
The Director of Catering is responsible for overseeing the sales and coordination of member-related and private events, ensuring a high level of satisfaction for both our members and clients. This role involves creating contracts and managing all administrative and operational aspects of event preparation, sales, and execution while adhering to budgetary constraints.
In addition, the Director of Catering will guide members and clients on event setup, menu selection, decor, preferred vendors, and all facets of the event planning process. This position also includes supporting the Director of Food and Beverage in day-to-day operations, as necessary, to guarantee that our members receive exceptional service.
What you will do.
- Expertly coordinates and oversees all private and social events, ensuring an outstanding experience that exceeds client and member expectations.
- Collaborates closely with the Assistant General Manager and Executive Chef to design a culinary experience that enhances the overall event while ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Responsible for creating and working within budgets.
- Responsible for monitoring expenses and preparing a post-event profit and loss statement (P&L).
- Develop a strong and impactful business plan for my catering business!
- Participate in external conferences, workshops, and meetings to remain up-to-date on industry trends.
- Propose new events.
- Partner with the Communications Manager to effectively post event notifications on the Club's website and the newsletter.
- Manage calls confidently from members, vendors, and the general public.
- Meet with members regarding event planning needs, menu creation, decor, and pricing.
- Coordinate the setup and execution of all functions.
- Oversees the development of contracts; assures that pre-planned banquet menu offerings are current and reflect general member interests.
- Ensure the accuracy and distribution of function sheets.
- Oversees personnel scheduling for special functions and may help supervise service personnel.
- Design floor plans based on anticipated guest counts and client needs.
- Manages banquet billing and arranges prompt payment for all events.
- Embraces and executes additional tasks as directed by the Assistant Manager and the General Manager.
What you bring.
- Minimum 10+ years experience in event planning and/or catering at high-end resorts, hotels, or private clubs.
- Private club experience is strongly preferred.
- A Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred but not required.
- Experience with using POS (NorthStar experience desired)
