What Is a Week in the Life of the Service Technician Like?
- Learn the processes in place to maintain and manage the external customer service process and develop ideas to improve those processes.
- Actively pursue enhancements by recommending policy and process changes to improve effectiveness or efficiency for service through issues that are seen in service on the existing product.
- Build internal relationships that produce an open communication line between service, distribution, engineering, and other teams.
- Be at the work center with personal protective equipment and tools ready to work at the start of your shift.
- Work quickly, accurately, and respectfully at all times.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime if needed.
- Ability to diagnose, maintain, troubleshoot and repair 12 volt and 120 volt electrical systems and their components such as generators, air conditioner, power supplies, relays, compressors etc.
- Ability to read prints, sketches, or plan for information pertaining to the type of material required, such as aluminum, wallboard etc. and dimensions of area to be completed.
- Ability to layout, position, align and fit components together using rule, square, or other tools.
- Ability to assemble cut and shaped materials and fasten them together with screws, rivets, staples, glue, caulk, sealant, tape, bolts, nuts, and other fastening means as needed.
- Ability to install insulation, flooring material, trim pieces, plexiglass, glass track, wall coverings, fixtures, hardware, latches, and numerous other miscellaneous items related to completing various types of modules.
- Ability to cover subfloor with vinyl or other flooring material using relevant fasteners.
- Ability to install insulating material inside walls; attaches paneling, or other materials to ceiling and walls.
- Ability to fit and install prefabricated window frames, doors, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware such as locks, latches, handles, and other miscellaneous hardware.
- Ability to clean, detail, vacuum, or otherwise attends to the finished look required of the area. Uses solvents, cleaners, adhesives, adhesive removers and other products in closed and open environments.
- Ability to cut, form, grind and layout materials, then assemble using welding, gluing or other fastening techniques.
- Ability to weld, bolt, clamp, screw, rivet, staple, glue, caulk, seal, tape and uses other fastening means as needed to secure parts in position.
- Ability to Read and understand prints, instruction, manuals, verbal instructions, and related literature to accomplish required jobs.
- Ability to use tools, welders, test equipment, fastening equipment, jacks, creepers, and other items to perform required tasks.
- In the case of the air conditioning mechanic, ability to be able to perform all installation, service, and troubleshooting required for R-22 systems.
- In the case of the electrical area: ability to connect power cables to equipment, such as electric motors, air conditioners, generators, and install electrical circuits.
- Capable of performing small engine troubleshooting and repair using the proper tools that are required.
- Observes and follows safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.
- Is consistently at work and on time; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; Arrives at meetings and appointments on time.
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 1 year prior automotive experience.
- Must be able to work as part of a team and independently.
- Must be able to pass a post-offer drug screen.
