This Fleet Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the fleet program operations for Newpark. This role will support the strategic objectives of the business securing quality vehicles, at the lowest total cost. This role will closely collaborate with HSE, HR and business unit Leadership, and provide effective customer service to all end-users.
Essential Functions:
- Enhance cost efficiencies, availability, and productivity by improving transparency, developing structured planning approaches, and overseeing fleet size, replacement, and maintenance.
- Manage policy implementation and monitoring.
- Drive the fleet selection process (manufacturer, models, etc.).
- Identify and manage idle assets.
- Handle insurance follow up.
- Responsible for vehicle transfers, state-to-state including retitling.
- Administer emission testing requirements.
- Administer the process for corrective action for vehicle violations.
- Partner with Treasury on Lease vs. Buy.
- Coordinate various reporting and audit requirements.
- Determine lowest cost of ownership between vehicle manufacturers annually.
- Oversee the acquisition and disposal of vehicles.
- Regularly report expenses and fleet performance to management.
- Compile fleet budgets for management approval.
- Ensure company compliance with government regulations related to the transportation industry.
- Take preventive measure to ensure safety of vehicles and drivers.
- Ensure vehicles are available to meet orders, while scheduling & monitoring current industry trends.
- Make sure that all vehicles are properly registered; carry out inspection on regular basis.
- Take part in different workshops and/or programs to keep current.
- Monitor fuel purchases by administering fuel cards for all vehicles to their respective drivers, regulating costs/expenses and reduce theft.
- Provide strategic guidance and implement continuous improvement strategies.
- Ensure that vehicles are being utilized to their fullest potential in a safe and cost-effective manner.
- Maintenance Data: Helps understand what's working and what needs more attention.
- Maintain fleet reporting software (Holman, Fleetio, Geotab, LB Technology-dash cameras) that includes overall fleet and driver compliance including assets and driver updates.
- Generate and distribute monthly reporting on fleet and driver compliance.
- Maintain and update driver scorecards for drivers and reports out to management.
- Review dash camera footage daily for any driving related deficiencies and report those to the driver and management.
- Maintain Smith System Defensive Driver training for drivers in conjunction with HSE.
- Maintain asset/equipment inspections checklist and corrective actions on failed items.
- Conduct quarterly driver meetings and communicate driver feedback to leadership.
- Confirm annual MVRs are conducted and corrective actions taken if needed.
- Performs additional duties as required by the supervisor.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or educational equivalent;
- 5 years' supervisory experience.
- 5 years' fleet program experience.
- Must have Microsoft Office experience.
- Advanced Excel preferred
