Position Overview
We are currently looking for a qualified Civil Construction Estimator to join the team at the office in Sterling, Virginia. This role involves creating accurate and detailed cost estimates for self-performed commercial repair and restoration projects, including concrete repairs, masonry restoration, waterproofing, and structural strengthening.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing various metrics such as material quantities, labor requirements, equipment usage, and associated costs.
- Develop comprehensive estimates for conceptual, budgetary, and construction phases by defining the full project scope.
- Analyze historical project data to generate reports and provide insights to guide future estimating efforts.
- Identify and pursue sales opportunities with both new and existing clients to expand business relationships.
- Ensure repairs are performed safely, consistently, and to a high standard of quality by understanding and applying relevant repair methodologies.
- Collaborate effectively under tight deadlines while coordinating across multiple teams and stakeholders to maintain efficiency and productivity.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 3–5 years in construction estimating, particularly in structural concrete repair and restoration.
- Industry Knowledge: Background working with large concrete structures in sectors such as public, industrial, or commercial construction. Examples include parking facilities, bridges, wastewater treatment plants, tanks, and power facilities.
- Expertise: Previous work with self-performing contractors in areas like concrete, masonry, waterproofing, or mechanical systems.
- Regional Acumen: Familiarity with the construction market in the Mid-Atlantic, including local pricing trends and key contacts such as property managers, engineers, architects, and building owners.
- Technical Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other relevant software, with strong analytical and mathematical abilities.
- Client Engagement: Experience managing customer relationships and supporting light business development initiatives.
