Position Details:

  • 2nd Shift: Monday - Thursday; 3:00pm - 1:00am
  • Pay Range: Up to $36.00/hour (based upon experience, skill set, and shift)



Key Responsibilities:

  • Weld small and large components in accordance to customers specifications
  • Perform welding in flat and horizontal positions using GMAW processes on carbon, stainless and aluminum metals
  • Interpret shop drawings, and measurements to plan layouts
  • Set up machines and weld according to a welding procedure specifications (WPS)
  • Use weld fixtures to set up and build parts
  • Monitor machinery for appropriate usage and temperature
  • Perform plasma cutting, ox-fuel cutting and carbon arc gouging
  • Perform first piece inspection/and or inspection of parts to ensure parts are produced per specification or print; obtain sign off by Quality Control personnel
  • Inspect work visually during the operation process for visual weld defects and perform in-process inspections
  • Log job information into computer and report production
  • Accurately enter data into Shoplogix system and/or hour-by-hour board
  • Ensures parts are made or processed in a prompt manner and production output figures are met
  • Be alert to any malfunction of welding equipment or problem with weld quality so production can be stopped prior to producing scrap or incurring damage to the machine or fixtures
  • Repair weld defects as needed
  • Perform basic weld machine maintenance such as changing wire spools, contact tips, nozzles, diffusers and other basic weld machine maintenance
  • Cross trains and operates Robotic Welders as directed to ensure production demand can be met
  • Perform all job duties as indicated on lower-level welding job duties
  • Comply with all applicable safety and environmental regulations and requirements.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and comply with all safety and environmental requirements
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Lead or Supervisor



Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1, D1.3, and D1.6 weld certification
  • Additional weld certifications needed as specified by particular job/customer


Experience and/or Training:

  • 2 years previous manual welding, or combined education and experience
  • Advanced ability to interpret documents such as blueprints, welding symbols, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Basic math and measurement skills (addition, subtraction, decimal and fraction conversions); able to accurately read a tape measure
  • Ability to successfully complete hands-on welding assessment
  • Able to perform weld inspections, identify weld defects and repair welds
  • Able to perform plasma cutting, oxy-fuel cutting and carbon arc gouging
  • Able to use weld fixtures to set up and build parts
  • Basic understanding of computers and ability to perform computer functions as they pertain to the job
  • Must pass GMAW certification tests on aluminum, carbon, and stainless steel
  • Ability to meet or exceed production rate requirements
  • Ability to meet Company quality standards
  • Must have and wear protective gear designated for the department
  • Must be able to stand while performing the job
  • Must be able to reach, bend, reach above shoulders, and move from place to place
  • Ability to regularly talk and listen
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include a Jaeger eye score greater than or equal to J2, close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception
  • Ability to lift and or carry up to 50 lbs. frequently



Preferred Qualifications:

Experience and/or Training:

  • Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) Certifications
  • Previous inspection experience
  • Prior forklift / crane experience
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing
  • Exposure to Shoplogix data entry
  • Experience using an ERP software (Epicor/CMS)
  • Aluminum welding experience
