• UT Health Tyler, the flagship hospital of the system, has 502 licensed beds specializing in advanced acute care medicine. Our hospital includes a 24-hour ER with Level 1 trauma center, a comprehensive stroke center, more than 500 physicians and a full complement of subspecialty groups.

• Exercises critical thinking skills in all aspects of the FA role.
• Establishes and maintains a safe operative environment.
• Provides technical first assistance to the primary surgeon in the operating room.
• Partners with the physician to enhance the effectiveness of patient care.
• Provides excellent customer service to patients and staff ensuring UT Health and departmental objectives are maintained
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements: 

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
• Successful completion of an approved FA course
• Proficient in scrubbing all specialties with a minimum of 3 years of experience
• Current Certification in Surgical Technology
• Current Certification as a First Assistant
• Current BLS
