Fish & Bird Sousaku Izakaya is an authentic Japanese restaurant with a contemporary California flair. We serve true Japanese food we grew up with in Japan, and feel the level of Japanese cuisine here needs to be better than it is now. We want to work with people who are interested in learning about the intricacy of Japanese cuisine and how it is prepared and served. We are looking for people who want to grow together with us.
This is a part-time position with health benefits (if worked more than 30 hours) and a 401(k) plan.
Responsibilities as a server:
- Explain our restaurant concept and menu to customers and make recommendations
- Greet and make all guests feel welcome at the restaurant
- Serve food & beverages to the customers with flair
- Respond to guest inquiries and requests in a timely fashion
- Report any issues that arise during the shift to management.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health, and safety standards.
- Perform opening and closing duties ensuring all the tasks are completed
- Learn and be knowledgeable regarding our concept, food, and beverages
- Clean the dining areas, as well as polish glassware, silverware, etc.
- Perform other restaurant duties as assigned
- Understanding of the reservation system (Resy)
- Become proficient with Toast POS system and handheld
Qualifications and requirements:
- Must be available at least 3 days a week, including weekends
- Previous experience as a server is required
- Ability to build rapport with guests
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willing to work hard as a part of the team
- Be caring of customers, co-workers, and people around you
- Have a, "No job is too small!" attitude -- you will be asked to clean, run food, serve, learn, etc.
- Always stay busy -- if the restaurant is slow, then we need to be polishing glasses, silverware, etc. There will not be idle time.
- Follow safety protocol
- Be able to lift 50 lbs
- Be eligible to work in the U.S.
- Have fun in a fast-paced environment!
