Kelly Engineering is currently hiring for a Laboratory Technician onsite role at Dow Prentiss Site in Lacombe, AB.
Title: Laboratory Technician
Location: Prentiss (Lacombe, AB)
Shift: Onsite Rotating shift that covers 7 days a week.
Willing to work a 12-hour rotational shift schedule with hours from 6 AM/PM to 6 PM/AM in 5 shift team’s structure.
The Dow LP7 Quality Control Lab requires an individual to join our team. The individual will be fully trained to run all the routine samples and will work a rotating shift that covers 7 days a week.
We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal, communication and computer skills. We are also looking for a team player that is willing to share knowledge, experience and ideas. A safety-first work ethic is a must.
The successful candidate will use established methods and operating procedures to test, calculate, record and report data for in-process and final products. The Dow LP7 Lab performs TSS, TOC, petrochemical ASTM testing, Polyethylene product quality testing, water analysis as well as some wet chemistry.
Must possess a class 5 vehicle license and be able to perform minimal physical lifting to collect samples around the site.
Applicants must have a 2-year diploma in Chemical Technology or equivalent.
The Dow Chemical site is located on the Prentiss site in Lacombe county and not serviced by public transit, a reliable independent means of transport is required.
The main focus of this position will be to:
- Perform routine Polyethylene product testing to ensure product meets specification.
- Perform routine analysis on in-process chemicals.
- Perform chemical analysis for the identification of raw materials used in production.
- Enters data into specific information data bases such as LIMS and is experienced with Microsoft office tools (Word and Excel).
- Performs routine calibration, verification and maintenance procedures per defined schedule and maintains documentation.
- Monitor and maintain reagents, standards and consumable items.
- Ensures analyzers systems are in control and suitably maintained prior to use.
- Actively participate in the department safety program.
- Willing to work a 12-hour rotational shift schedule with hours from 6 AM/PM to 6 PM/AM in 5 shift teams structure.
