TrendTex is the leading Wholesale Distributor in Canada for independent retailers focused on the quilting and home sewing markets. TrendTex represents some of the best fabric lines the industry has to offer such as Moda, Hoffman California, Cotton + Steel, RJR Fabrics, Stof, Benartex, Michael Miller, Lewis & Irene and Shannon Fabrics. TrendTex is searching for a Branch Operations Manager who will contribute to the company’s continued growth and success.
The Role:
Reporting to the owner, the Branch Operations Manager will oversee the operations of TrendTex Fabrics and its UK division, Winbourne Fabrics. This role requires a skilled leader with strong IT and team management capabilities to drive operational efficiency, optimize costs, inventory, and overall profitability. The Branch Operations Manager will analyze and act on key business metrics to shape effective strategies. With a balance of business acumen and emotional intelligence, this individual will foster a culture of accountability and collaboration, aligning the senior leadership team with the company’s goals and vision.
- Lead by example, take initiative and provide strategic leadership for the senior leadership team
- Collaborate with department heads to identify growth opportunities, enhance efficiencies, and implement cost-saving measures
- Provide direct support to the senior leadership and administrative team, ensure that health, safety, and environmental standards are met across all operational activities
- Oversee employee compensation and benefits, conduct regular reviews to maintain alignment with market standards, be the contact for handling confidential employee matters
- Collaborate with the controller to set budgetary and financial performance targets, understand the finances, manage cash flow requirements across the organization’s operating companies
- Oversee the IT environment in collaboration with the Managed Service Provider to ensure smooth operations
- Oversee UK operations from Canada, managing communications with the UK team and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks
- Proficient with the ERP system, analyze productivity and set performance targets that meet revenue and cost targets, has above average excel skills
- Act as the champion for third-party add-ons and e-commerce integrations, strategically expand the e-commerce platform
- Provide operational web support related to creating a better user experience
The Requirements:
- 7+ years track record of success with 4+ years leadership experience within a production and manufacturing environment, experience with textiles is an asset
- A generalist with experience in operations, inventory management, finance, human resources and IT
- Tech savvy, experience growing e-commerce platforms and growing brand awareness online
- A proven team leader, who consistently maximizes talent and expertise within the operation, holds team members accountable while providing necessary coaching, training, and career development opportunities.
- Above average communicator with excellent organizational, interpersonal and time-management skills
- Entrepreneurial in approach, competitive, demonstrates energy and a sense of urgency in executing day-to-day responsibilities
- Superior excel skills, comfortable with pivot tables, able to analyze, interpret and act on data gathered from ERP system, experience with SAP is an asset
- A natural relationship builder who brings creative thinking and a can do attitude, strong negotiation and follow-up skills, attends to the needs of the customer
- Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft office 365, willing to travel
