Maintenance Manager

Our client is a growing manufacturing organization that has operations across four locations in the Fraser Valley. We’re looking for a visionary Maintenance Manager to lead through a period of transition, growth, and change. Most of the current workforce is senior, with anticipated retirements over the next decade, requiring someone adept at succession planning and long-term strategy. This role would be best suited for a seasoned maintenance supervisor looking for the next move in their career or an experienced maintenance manager looking to make a shift to company that is scaling for growth.
As the Maintenance Manager, you’ll oversee and align the maintenance team with senior leadership's vision, ensuring operational efficiency while maintaining a focus on preventative maintenance and effective response to on-call breakdowns. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations and collaborating closely with the production and operations teams, you’ll play a pivotal role in the organization’s mechanical systems management and overall growth, with a key goal of adopting Lean Six Sigma processes to drive continuous improvement and streamline maintenance operations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a seasoned team of 10-12 maintenance professionals in a non-unionized environment.
- Develop and implement a long-term strategy for transitioning the maintenance team in alignment with leadership changes.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to translate their vision into actionable goals for the team.
- Provides leadership, through guidance and oversight, to the cultural and technical growth of the department team members.
- This is a multi-site managerial position across the Fraser Valley, you will be based out of the Langley location.
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs and address breakdowns efficiently with a focus on root-cause solutions rather than temporary fixes.
- Support the integration of Lean and Six Sigma principles into maintenance practices.
- Maintain and improve systems related to automation, pneumatic machinery, irrigation, boilers, and power engineering.
- Contribute to the organization’s growing portfolio of branches by ensuring consistent standards and practices across locations.
- Develop and implement comprehensive training plans for maintenance staff, fostering skill advancement and safety awareness.
- Oversee adherence to Preventative Maintenance schedules, ensuring timely and high-quality completion of work orders.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years in a leadership role, preferably within maintenance or a similar technical field.
- Millwright, Electrician, HVAC or Power Engineering certification are a strong asset
- Familiarity with automation, PLC software, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience with boiler systems & gas tickets would also be considered an asset
- Proven ability to apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance team performance and operational efficiency.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and ERP systems.
- Strong ability to guide a seasoned workforce, foster alignment with organizational goals, and implement change effectively.
- Open to candidates outside of agriculture with a background in lean management practices.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
