The Role:
Youn will join our clients Systems team and contribute to setting up the control system for the world’s most advanced satellite constellation. This role involves adapting cutting-edge software technology to establish a high-assurance containerized satellite control system. Collaborate with architects and satellite engineers to understand the overall ConOps and program in-house containerized software products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy and maintain infrastructure (on-prem cloud/containers) hosting the operations systems.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain satellite control systems for an advanced satellite constellation.
- Ensure system requirements for all elements of satellite control systems, including real-time command and telemetry processing, flight dynamics, space situational awareness, data storage and analytics, ground encryption, constellation management, and operations automation.
- Develop and maintain software related to operations systems, including spacecraft data storage and visualization, monitoring tools, and automation.
- Assist other satellite operations teams in utilizing control systems and related tasks.
- Participate in the procurement process of satellite operations systems, including acceptance testing, verification of requirements, and training.
- Collaborate with satellite engineering teams to ensure operations systems are sufficient for constellation operations.
- Develop mission operations procedures and processes for LEOP, Orbit Raising, and In-Orbit validation, and conduct appropriate training and rehearsals.
- Implement robust automation of operational processes to ensure reliable satellite operations.
- Monitor and maintain GEO satellite operations systems for the current GEO fleet.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP). The candidate should also have the ability to obtain a NATO secret security clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Science, or Mathematics.
- Minimum of 9 years of experience with operational systems in similar roles.
- Experience with modern operating systems, programming languages, and frameworks.
- Experience with on-prem clusters and containerized systems (Kubernetes in-particular).
- Familiarity C, C++, Java or Python
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral.
- Ability to travel internationally and provide proof of no travel or visa restrictions.
- Ability to obtain NATO secret security clearance.
- Willingness to provide off-hours support as part of a call-out rotation.
- Ability to work overtime as required by project needs.
- Self-motivated with the ability to issue recommendations and influence system design.
- Evaluate solutions for operations systems and provide decisions backed by technical assessments.
- Support operational plans, anomaly responses, and direct critical responses as required.
- May provide leadership to project teams and mentor junior staff.
