Job Description

We are looking for a Director of Global Applications Delivery & Digital Transformation who will be responsible for leading the strategic planning, development, and implementation of operational technology, and other enterprise applications across the organization in addition to leading our Digital Transformation practice. This role involves managing a team of senior project managers, administrators, and analysts to ensure the delivery of high-quality applications that support business objectives and enhance user experience. Reporting to the Global VP of IT, the Director will collaborate with stakeholders across various departments to understand their needs and drive continuous improvement in application delivery. This role is based on-site at our Mississauga, ON work location.

Formulate Application and Digital Strategy and Guide Execution

Work with Business and Leadership Stakeholders to Develop Strategy

  • Understands disruptive forces and the business’s economic and financial levers that are susceptible to digital transformation to effectively guide investment decisions.
  • Leads the analysis of business and operating models, market trends and the technology industry to determine their potential impact on the enterprise’s business strategy, and direction.
  • Uses planning-driven, design-driven and learning-driven approaches to construct future- and current-state business models.
  • Work closely with the Enterprise Architecture Office (EAO) when selecting and recommending enterprise solutions.


Connect Strategy to Execution

  • Facilitates business and IT alignment through a collaborative, supportive and consultative manner, driving the organization’s digital business strategies and balancing innovation and growth.
  • Translates and executes business strategy to achieve the organization’s targeted business outcomes by leading the development of an implementation roadmap for the enterprise architecture.
  • Constructs technology-enabled business and operating models and provides viable options and visibility into execution issues.



Facilitate Innovation

Collect, Analyze, Review and Refine Innovations, Trends, Disruptions, Opportunities, or Ideas

  • Assesses disruptive forces impacting the organization and identifies technology-enabled innovation opportunities that enables business strategy.
  • Contextualizes technology trends based on social, economic, political and other non-technology trends.
  • Scans emerging technologies and the business ecosystem for major disruptive technology and non-technology trends (trendspotting) that affect business. Provides practical advice and best practices to take advantage of new, or emerging, opportunities and successfully deliver the expected business outcomes.


Develop, Track and Manage Execution of Innovations, Trends, Disruptions, Opportunities, or Ideas

  • Details potential competitive threats that are generally considered outside of your traditional realm of competition.
  • Tracks and applies innovative technologies, anchoring them in the business and operating model to assess their potential, and uses agile and lean approaches to evolve and manage innovation.
  • Runs technology experiments to create new products and services and integrate the best of these into steady-state operations for the organization.


Plan and Manage the IT Digital Portfolio

Develop Digital Roadmaps

  • Presents gap analyses and/or IT investment roadmaps that reflect the status of the existing IT landscape, namely, its ability to contribute to future-state business capabilities around ecosystems and digital platforms.
  • Leads analysis of the IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement.
  • Leads the development of an implementation plan for the enterprise architecture, based on business requirements and the varying IT strategies for project-driven or product-driven delivery teams.


Support Solutions Delivery

  • Develops and applies standards and minimal viable architectures, which is informed by the business strategy and corporate governance. Clarifies accountability and provides the focal point for agile, effective and efficient decision making.
  • Collaborates with delivery teams to ensure consistency with the enterprise architecture office, as well as to leverage shared technologies, tools and processes that impact speed to value and time to market
  • Supports existing Digital solutions related to company web sites, Salesforce, etc.


Operational Technology and Other Applications

  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of Operational Technology (OT) related systems and other applications and integrations, ensuring they meet business requirements and technical standards.
  • Ensure the scalability, security, and reliability of application solutions, implementing appropriate architecture and design principles.
  • Conduct regular reviews of application configurations and workflows to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, tools, and platforms to support application deliver
  • Responsible for Operation Technologies applications related to: Health and Safety Systems (HSE), Enterprise Asset Management (EAS), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), plus other.
  • Lead the group that support multiple global applications in a resource pool delivery model.


People Leadership

  • Coach and develop members in your team.
  • Help to identify gaps across project teams, make recommendations on project teams, and help recruit and onboard new members.
  • Build and maintain high-performing teams who are dedicated and experienced in their craft and bring out their best through servant leadership.


Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the budget for application delivery and digital, ensuring cost-effective use of resources and alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Evaluate and negotiate contracts with vendors, consultants, and service providers, ensuring value for money and high-quality service delivery.
  • Monitor budget performance, identifying and addressing variances and potential cost-saving opportunities.



OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE;


  • > 10 years’ experience leading application delivery and Digital programs
  • > 10 years’ experience in full people management responsibilities including hiring, performance and compensation management, learning and development
  • Degree in Computer Science or Business Management – MBA an asset
  • Effective leader of ideas and people with a deep understanding of business capabilities and processes
  • Strong understanding of leading technology trends with the ability to leverage for competitive advantage
  • Broad cross-industry experience and domain expertise – industrial manufacturing sector, intercompany, third-party distribution and branch retail operations experience an asset
  • Collaborative team player who can effectively facilitate senior level meetings and positively influence outcomes
  • Solid understanding of enterprise applications including CRM, E-commerce, Sales Force, Operational Technology such as Health and Safety, Enterprise Asset Management and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
  • Ability to lead and deliver complex projects with successful outcomes
  • PMP certification
  • Excellent communication and presentations skills. Excellent problem-solving skills
