Typical Day in the Role:
Senior System Support Specialist (Solaris/Red Hat Linux)
This role will include project work and interacting with multiple team members.
There is occasional after-hours or weekend work is required.
The main function of a Technical Analyst is to plan, design, develop and implement efficient business and operations systems in support of core organizational functions and business processes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Gather requirements, design, configure, code, test and resolve issues in a development and production support environment.
- Development of modules, support for conversion of data, job scheduling, unit/integration testing, business process documentation, development of training materials, and delivery of end user training.
- Translate business requirements into configurations and interface specifications.
- Coordinate testing and validation with business users.
- Prepare detailed functional specifications for the development of custom reports, enhancements, interfaces, conversions, and forms.
- Troubleshooting and technical problem solving
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
- 8+ years of hands-on technical working experience with administration, installation, configuration & troubleshooting of Solaris (versions 10/11) and Red Hat Linux (versions 6/7/8) Operating Systems.
- 8+ years of hands-on technical working experience with the configuration, administration, builds and troubleshooting of Veritas/Symantec Storage Foundation (VSF) & Veritas/Symantec Cluster Services.
- Hands-on technical working experience with Network Information Service (NIS), DNS, Network File System (NFS), Solaris Zones & Solaris Logical Domains (LDoms), ZFS, and Disksuite (SVM), raid volumes
- Experience in troubleshooting and fixing Oracle sparc and x86 HW platform servers and engaging vendor support.
- Demonstrate working experience of SAN storage at OS level & Experience in scripting and Ansible automation
