Technology Product Owner – Digital Identity

Role Profile

Digital Identity is a foundational element for enabling secure, frictionless experiences for students, staff, and external stakeholders. The Digital Identity portfolio focuses on implementing and maintaining centralized identity management, access, and authorization systems, including Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Entra External ID, Salesforce Data Cloud, Salesforce CRM, Salesforce Experience Cloud, and MuleSoft iPaaS.

What You Will Do

The Technology Product Owner – Digital Identity is responsible for managing digital identity products. Key responsibilities include:

• Team Leadership: Lead a team of professionals to develop and support the Digital Identity product, manage team capacity, and ensure successful delivery of platform engineering and technology.
• Product Strategy/Roadmap: Develop and maintain a strategic vision for Digital Identity products, ensuring alignment with organizational IT and institutional goals.
• Backlog Management: Manage the product backlog, define priorities, and ensure the timely, high-quality delivery of solutions.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with key stakeholders, including academic and administrative departments, to address needs and implement appropriate identity management solutions. Coordinate efforts with IT Services, Digital Solutions, IT Security, the Registrar’s Office, and People & Culture.
• Delivery Planning and Execution: Lead delivery planning and sprint execution while collaborating with development teams to ensure agility and excellence.
• Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors to meet technical and service quality standards.
• Team Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including IT Digital Solutions, IT Security, data teams, and third-party partners, to enhance digital identity capabilities.
• Technical Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical risks within the Digital Identity portfolio.
• Change Management: Facilitate change management activities, promote awareness, and encourage adoption of identity management projects.
• Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports to executive leadership, focusing on progress, issues, and risk mitigation.

Education

• A degree in Computer Science, Information Management Science, Business Management, or a related field.

Experience

• At least five years of experience in identity and access management (IAM), digital identity, or related technology product ownership roles.
• Experience in post-secondary education or the public sector is considered an asset.
• Experience in Agile environments, managing technology product backlogs, and delivering successful products.
