Our Client, A Global Investment Bank, is seeking a Managing Director for large Program Execution/Program Management. The successful candidate will lead large-scale, multi-year global technology implementations and be accountable for large cross-functional change programmes across the corporate systems group. You must manage a project budget of $20 –70 MM across the change/delivery portfolio.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning
- Sets up, executes and successfully delivers on the major initiatives
- Governance and Oversight, issues resolution and management of ambiguity at the Business level.
- Relationship Manager and collaborator with colleagues, clients and third parties.
- Guides/coaches Program Team and holds them accountable for people management and their team’s results.
- Manages the planning and structure of the department.
- Implements best practices and continuous improvement programs aligned across T&O.
Program and Project Planning & Execution
- Ensures the business systems being developed contribute to the strategic direction of the business stakeholders; enhances and supports the business processes, and adds value to the requesting Business Platforms or Functional Units in achieving their goals.
- Provides leadership and expert counsel in establishing and implementing standards, guidelines and best practices for developing and deploying solutions.
- Seeks out industry trends and organization knowledge to understand alternative approaches/solutions.
- Facilitates joint planning with the client in the early program/project formation stages.
- Thinks creatively about opportunities to align deliveries to maximize portfolio efficiency and strategic value.
- Facilitates schedule and cost forecasting and mentors program managers in determining risk-based provisions.
- Champions the creation of metrics and manages with a higher level of information, i.e. at the trends and management indicator level.
- Champion strong IT governance by creating a program decision framework; mentor program/project managers in its development and continuous improvement.
- Overall Governance & oversight of all projects and management documents.
- Resolves complex issues and conflicts (including architectural direction vs. project constraints); escalates to executive level where required.
- Resolves ambiguity
- Ensures program/project scope management is maintained (including the use of appropriate fact-based analytics)
- Promote innovative or improved methods to get the work done and champion and implement best practices.
Relationships & Communication:
- Establish and maintain strong business partnerships with sponsors and partners across the bank, both global and regional.
- Establish and maintain strategic partnership relationships with global counterparts, service providers, vendors, consultants and other T+O teams to deliver cost-effective solutions that underpin the successful realization of strategic priorities.
- Assist business unit and T&O centre with the prioritization of technology-based projects/programs - ensuring work plans and budgets are appropriately planned.

Preferred experience:
- 10+ Years experience in leading large-scale enterprise programs within a financial services environment.
- Recent experience implementing large-scale finance/capital markets and trading risk services programs.

- Extensive interaction with Senior members of the Capital Markets, Finance Functions and T & O OC and their global teams in the definition of strategy and execution of the portfolio
