At VCA Family and Oahu Veterinary Specialty Center Pearl City, HI is looking for an experienced Hospital Director to join our team!


We are a high volume, state-of-the-art specialty referral and 24-hour critical care hospital providing a variety of specialties including Internal Medicine, Emergency/Critical Care, Medical Oncology, Ophthalmology and Surgery. At VCA Family and Oahu Specialty Center, we've helped pets live long, healthy, and happy lives for many years. We deliver the best medical care for pets and the best experience for the pet owner.


The Hospital Director will be responsible for a wide range of complex administrative activities to ensure quality patient care, excellent client service, management of finances and accounting, marketing, promotion of services, staffing and human resources, and discretionary activities that serve to support effective business operations. The Hospital Director will oversee the performance of approximately 150 associates including doctors, technicians, veterinary assistants, and paraprofessional staff. The successful candidate will join an organization that genuinely values local input and decision-making.


Responsibilities of this position (including but not limited to):

  • Accountability for the hospital profit & loss statements.
  • Partner with the Medical Director to facilitate delivery of the best possible medical and surgical care to our patients.
  • Responsibility to foster a collaborative and positive culture and work environment.
  • Responsible for consistently delivering results that contribute to the mission and overall success of the hospital, by accomplishing performance objectives focused on business revenues, client, and associate satisfaction.
  • Focus on exceeding client expectations.
  • Partner with Marketing Manager in promoting the hospital & cultivate relationships within the veterinary community.
  • Develop and grow future leaders.
  • Oversight and development of onboarding, training, and continued growth of our associates.
  • Support the recruitment and retention of medical professionals


Who we are looking for:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of strong leadership experience in developing a solid team and proven success.
  • Have a minimum of 2-3 years-experience in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management or Business Administration and operations management with profit and loss responsibility.
  • Knowledge of sales and marketing techniques.
  • Human resource skills.
  • Client relations training and experience.
  • Prior specialty/emergency veterinary management knowledge is a plus.
  • Highly emotionally intelligent leader with proven skills to effectively communicate with a strong team
  • Ability to multi-task and deal with high levels of stress in an environment of changing priorities.
  • Ability to balance short-term needs and priorities while building for the future.

The salary range for this position is $90,000-$120,000 plus a performance-based bonus up to 14% of the base salary.
